Launch of Formula One Challenge 2014

MP Engineering was lucky enough to be invited to a wonderful launch dinner last night, as a part of the wings for life formula one challenge.

Wings for Life officially launched its Formula One Challenge at the Royal Automobile Club last week. Infiniti Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner joined the competitors to share his tips on teamwork.

The Wings for Life Formula One Challenge is now in its second year and sees companies race against one another to raise as much money as possible for spinal cord research. In return for their hard work they can earn much sought after rewards from Infiniti Red Bull Racing. The challenge kicked off last night with a launch event attended by Horner, Wings for Life supporters Matt King and guests from each of the seven teams.

The Wings for Life Formula One Challenge runs from February until November 2014 to coincide with the Formula One season. Over the next nine months, seven teams will go head-to-head to try and hit the top fundraising total: Clarendon Engineering Supplies, Collyer Bristow LLP, Cotswold Outdoor, Mitsubishi Materials, MP Engineering Ltd, Rapid Engineering Supplies Ltd and Smyle.

The rewards up for grabs include the chance to have an Infiniti Red Bull Racing static car in their workplace and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Infiniti Red Bull Racing factory.

Horner attended the evening where he shared his thoughts on team work and team motivation: “Wings for Life is a fantastic charity and it’s doing great work to find a cure for spinal cord injury. That alone should motivate people. Creating an environment where your team can flourish is also key – at Infiniti Red Bull Racing we trust and invest in our people and this is evident across the whole team. On race day you see the shop window – it’s everything that takes place behind closed doors which is critical.”
